Who we Support

Portavadie is committed to supporting the communities in which it operates and this includes support to registered local and national charities. We do wish we could give to everyone, as we recognise the amazing work of all fundraisers and the worthy casues they represent. The business, with the support of our team have taken the decision to support the charities below on an ongoing basis.

The charities we currently support are:

Ayrshire Hospice - The Ayrshire Hospice provides outstanding quality care and services which helps those with any life-limiting illness. Care is provided where there is no cure for the condition, but which improves the quality of each day for people who have a limited time to live. Portavadie has strong personal links with Ayrshire and we support them annually by helping with their annual ball.

Maggie's - Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, following the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need. Again, we support Maggie's annually and think the work that they do it second to none.

The Dochas Centre - The Dochas Centre is in Lochgilphead and was founded by John Paterson, after John was diagnosed with both Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) and Motor Neurone Disease (MND). He was an artist and psychiatric nurse. John’s vision was to bring hope to others living with these incurable conditions by using the sale of reproductions of his art to support care and research. The work they do is incredible and the charity have their annual lunch with us each year.
