Walking

This area is full of walks, from coastal strolls to long-distance routes.

Cowal is the three-pronged peninsula between Loch Fyne and Loch Long. Easily accessible and yet often overlooked, this is a rugged and mountainous landscape with a fine coastline, attractive lochs and extensive forests, packed with red squirrels.

The most famous is the Cowal Way, which begins at Portavadie and ends at Inveruglas on the shores of Loch Lomond. Cowalfest, a walking and outdoor festival, takes place every October.

Walk Highlands has compiled a list of walks with comprehensive detail of each route. Check out the range of walks in the area by following the link.
